The birthday child is given a crown---I make it using Birthday themed bulletin board border from the dollar tree :o) Much cheaper than the packs of crowns I previously purchased from Lakeshore.

We sing Happy Birthday, and they open their gift ($10 or less) and get a book along with a card. We also move their name to the next cake-a big To-Do around here :o)

One thing I started-and never quite finished, probably due to a bit of burnout--was the Birthday Bag. I purchased a Birthday beanie baby, birthday themed books, and printed birthday coloring pages to put in a Birthday Bag. The child was supposed to bring the bag home on their birthday and return the next day.

I also made a Birthday Sash for the birthday child to wear.

LOVE the idea of making a birthday poster!! So much more creative than the cards I've been purchasing! Thanks for sharing!
